Caroline joined NUH as Director of the Emergency Pathway in 2014 and was appointed Chief Operating Officer in October 2015, leading on the Trust’s performance delivery and operational effectiveness. Caroline began her clinical career as a nurse before moving into midwifery and has more than 30 years’ experience in the NHS. She has worked on a range of NHS improvement programmes and has a master’s degree in health management.

Her previous roles have included three years as Deputy Chief Executive Officer at the University of South Manchester Hospital, during which time the Trust moved from zero to three stars under the Healthcare Commission rating system. She was also Chief Executive Officer at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust for nine years from 2005. Caroline was appointed a CBE for services to health in 2013.
